I recently found this band, The Tenementals, via the Lost Glasgow facebook page . The song was 'Owl of Minerva' and both the poetry of the words and the drive of the music grabbed me alongside a stunning animation video. They are launching an ambitious concept album about the radical history of Glasgow at the Oran Mor on November 27th that includes tales of fighting fascism alongside, early suffragette movement, Jimmy Reid and the miner strikes, the Poll Tax protests, and the dark history of empire and slavery as well as celebrating the city's love for excess. Seas of Mirth bio

Seas of Mirth have been stamping their own mark on modern music for the last decade, mixing up styles and genres while also being known for their aquatic twist. The band’s sound has been taken to a new level on their fourth album Kriller. Recorded at London’s Total Refreshment Centre by producer Capitol K (known for his work with The Comet Is Coming, Flamingods, Alabaster dePlume) this is a deep-ocean inspired odyssey and various sub marine themes lurk within each of the ten linked tracks. With an extensive instrumental checklist, the sonic span widens into areas of psyche, dark funk, jazz, disco, ambient, latin, club beats and chime-pop. The prog-folk elements remain from their first two records, but this time around, comparisons have been made to the likes of Cardiacs, Stereolab, Talking Heads, Parliament/Funkadelic, Gong, Moulettes, Henge, Animal Collective and Frank Zappa. Live, there is a huge emphasis to bring the tunes to life in an enthralling sensory experience, made possible with big luminous sea creature props emerging through the course of the set, and various interactive opportunities for the crowd – this may even include a tug of war! Throughout the years, Seas Of Mirth have played at festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Bearded Theory, Bestival, Nozstock, Isle Of Wight, Solfest and Beat Herder as well as many UK and European tours to much acclaim.

Today we go to New York to chat with legendary guitarist/ writer Grasshopper aka Sean Thomas Mackowiak of Mercury Rev fame. This is one of my favourite bands of all time . They came along at a pivotal moment for me as I started digging deeper for more underground records. I remember 'Yer Self is Steam' blowing me away with mixture of curiosity, fear and joy and it being the soundtrack to a very difficult time. They would later follow this up with two perfect albums in 'Deserters Songs' and 'All is Dream' that have never been off my playlists ever since. I have seen them live many times and it is an honour to speak with such an influential writer and performer with such an interesting back story . Their new album 'Born Horses' is out September 6th and they will play Glasgow on November 6th in Glasgow as part of their world tour. I have known Elliot Castro for many years through the clubbing/ party scene but it wasn't until I watched his new BBC documentary that I became aware of his incredible backstory that saw him in a 'Catch Me If You Can' style real life movie that saw him travel the globe in first class seats and 5 star hotels despite being skint and unemployed He was wanted by numerous police departments in various countries as it was estimated he had defrauded over 2.5 million dollars. The documentary is a gripping tale of how it got to that stage and the consequences and reflection of his actions. There is also a book that I haven't read yet. Probably one of the biggest independent bands in the UK right now and one of my personal festival favourites, we chat to the sound of Bristol, Dutty Moonshine of Dutty Moonshine Big Band. And at the time of this conversation the band were in the top 10 iTunes chart which is an incredible achievement for someone unsigned . They also tour Europe relentlessly and headline the big stages at the big festivals to tens of thousands of people on the regular. This is a fascinating insight to the behind the scenes mechanics of being able to make it happen without major backing. He shares tips, secrets and the hard work and reality behind it all. So even if you don't know the band you are gonna learn something today.
He shows us behind the smoke and mirrors and gives a modern day account of touring, social media and how his band have been so successful.
Like the last couple of episodes this was recorded a few months back now . I think October 2023 if memory serves me right, but everything is still relevant or even more relevant than it was then .

He sings for a band called The Scars and also been part of a Rabbie Burns punk fusion band called The Bum Clocks. And as an actor has appeared on The Acid House movie by Irvine Welsh and everything from River City to Outlander.

Since then , Zara's profile has skyrocketed with one of her characters 'West End Maw' probably becoming one of the most famous skits but there is many, many other sides to Zara as we discuss everything from her Lady Gaga parody to her Tik Tok fame as well as discussing A.I, Barbie and meeting Gerard Butler in Partick.

Dominik Diamond started as an overnight success on the iconic 90s TV videogame show Gamesmaster. He carved a path in mouthy sports broadcasting through Sportscall on BBC Radio 5 Live and Live and Dangerous on Channel 5 and helped launch a generation of exceptional Scottish music as host of the award winning XFM Scotland breakfast show in the 2000s and wrote assorted things for Smash Hits, FHM, 90 Minutes and The Daily Star throughout. He emigrated to Canada with his wife and 3 kids in 2009 where he hosted breakfast shows on Canadian radio coast to coast before giving that up to write books and stuff when he isn’t watching Celtic FC.

Danny runs a project called 'The Inner Rebellion' which does various things like meditation at sunrise in pollok park , weekends away to Arran and online get-togethers. Danny became famous as the mad chef in Bloc where has Buckfast ice cream became a viral sensation as part of a Vice documentary. He is also a content creator, producer, DJ, chef, and most recently started a BBC pilot show called 'The Scran Van' . He is someone who has completely turned his life around and now by sharing his wisdom is now helping others. We use the word 'Legend' too much but in this case there is no more apt word. Bassist of Killing Joke, Founder of The Orb, In a band with Paul McCartney. Produced an incredible discography that includes some of my favourite all time records such as 'Urban Hymns' by The Verve, 'The Endless River' by Pink Floyd and 'HMS Fable' by Shack to name just a few. He has also worked with The Charlatans, Dido, Crowded House, Embrace, The Cult, U2, Shed Seven, Erasure and Bananarama plus many more. It was an honour to chat with Martin 'Youth' Glover about his incredible career and his current projects which includes his art, writing, collaborations and the brilliant trance music he makes from his 'Space Montain' studio in Spain which also hosts an annual , interactive festival. On Yer Ones was a new concept I invented wherby I do a show on my own every Ten Episodes where I answer some questions from the listeners and introduce you to new music from some of my favourite acts.
