Today, we enter one of the darkest times in Judah's history. The right hand of God, once stretched out as a bow to protect, becomes a force of judgment against His own people. Lamentations 2 forces us to confront a terrifying reality: persistent disobedience invites the discipline of God. The ruin of Jerusalem was not God’s impulsive anger, but the fulfillment of God’s long-standing warnings. Yet, there is hope in the ruins. God’s judgment is not meant to alienate us, but to drive us to raw repentance and grief. Today, we explore the need to turn from false comforts and routine denial and bring our "deep as the sea" grief directly to Him. May we all ask ourselves a difficult but important question, “Will we choose denial or repentance?”

Where are You? Why don’t you care? Why have You abandoned me? The more we ask these questions with no response, the more we are reminded that these questions are actually God’s questions to us. Where are YOU? Why don’t YOU care? Why have YOU abandoned me? Often, solitude creates a contemplative mindset that brings us to the clarity we already knew. I left God. His silence echoes in our conviction, allowing our grief and misery to do its work - create a longing for restoration.

Sin has a way of bringing us to isolation and defeat and sometimes in that time of extreme grief, we call out to God, but do not feel His presence.

The word, spiritual disciplines often carries a heavy weight or sounds like a chore. But as we’re going to discuss today, the spiritual disciplines are not an end themselves, the power is in God. However, spiritual disciplines have the opportunity to make what is invisible, visible. As we will see in our texts, spiritual disciplines may seem painful or restrictive at first, but they are designed for transformation rather than mere information. Today we will end our series by discovering how to move from a life of exhausting, chaotic routine to a structured, flourishing life by practicing the way of Jesus.

However, as we’ll see in our text today, it’s often in the detour, not the destination, that we recognize Jesus. In Luke 24, Jesus has just risen from the grave. However, we’re going to see how Jesus carefully and compassionately deals with two people's crushed hopes and expectations. Like these two people on the road to Emmaus, Jesus wants to take our crushed hopes and our unrealistic expectations and reframe them around His words AND in the breaking of bread.

When Jesus instructed His disciples He often used analogies to describe how to walk in the way. In this morning’s scripture reading, we will find out not only how challenging the way can be, but also how to identify those traveling in the way, and a warning to those who may talk a good game, but not be fully committed to the way.

The parable of the 10 virgins is challenging us to assess whether or not we are leveraging our TIME for God‘s kingdom. The parable of the talents is challenging us and asking us are we leveraging our RESOURCES for God‘s kingdom? Based on how we answer whether or not we are leveraging our time and resources will ultimately be seen on judgment day. One day Jesus is going to separate the sheep from the goats. Those on the right are going be the ones that leverage their resources and time for the kingdom. Those on the left are going to be those that let excuses and priorities reign supreme. As we read this text, think about how we are all leveraging our time and resources for God‘s kingdom.

The three parables in Matthew 25 are meant to be understood together.

Our ability and willingness to forgive is directly connected to our own gratitude level. Until we understand our own debt, we will never fully be able to forgive other people of theirs. Today we’re going to look at what happens when we as a family of believers practice going to our brother and sister and being dispensers of the same grace we have received.
