Keep it simple! For the most part, we see in the New Testament that neither Jesus nor his disciples prayed long prayers when ministering to the sick. They walked in authority and were direct and bold in releasing their faith to heal the sick. The book of James puts the emphasis on faith saving or healing the sick using the vehicle of prayer. Using long prayers to convince ourselves doesn’t hit the mark. The Word exhorts us to imitate those who through faith and patience inherited the promises of God.

I was a little surprised at the many articles available online about coping with Holiday Blues. Apparently, it’s a widespread problem. One survey claimed 64% of those surveyed were affected in some way. The majority of the tips on “coping” were secular articles addressing stress and depression. As a believer, you need not succumb to depression and the blues. You can stress-proof your holidays beautifully with medicine from Psalm 100 verse 4.

Do you already have the appropriate attire? Will you be taking any guests? Do they know the “dress code” or is it “come as you are?”

Twice in this chapter, but also noted earlier in his book, John referred to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” He is the only one of the four who recorded the dialogue between Jesus and Simon Peter when Jesus asked Peter, “. . . lovest thou Me more than these?” Jesus asked Peter three questions. Were there three different questions OR was it the same question – three times? Why does John report that “. . . Peter was hurt. . .” following the third question? Was he hurt because Jesus asked the same question three times or because of the question, that he was asked the third time? We will explore.
