Concluding Galatians A Word to the Readers

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”
(Galatians 5:1)
Galatians is often read as a textbook of the Reformation that cried out “faith alone” against legalism. However, the core that the Bible intends to speak through Galatians does not lie in the religious debates or theological slogans of an era. How the righteousness that can never be obtained by human deeds settles upon a soul at once—that is the central message of Galatians.
This book explains Galatians chapters 1 through 6 from the perspective of the gospel of the water and the Spirit. It is a record that follows how Jesus Christ—who had the sins of the world transferred to Him by receiving baptism from John, received the punishment for those sins on the cross, and then resurrected from death—and His gospel become true freedom and eternal righteousness to souls shaking under the yoke of the law.
By reading this book, we come to confirm the fact that only the gospel of the water and the Spirit sustains the ministry of the apostles and establishes the saints as eternal children. Furthermore, through the two structures of baptism and the cross, it will be clearly testified how this gospel moves sinners from being slaves of the law to heirs of the promise, and from the yoke of slavery to free people working through love.

Today, with the words of Galatians chapter 1, I want to share the words of truth God has given us with you. First, I give thanks before God who has allowed this place. These days, through our homepage, truly many souls in places all over the world are meeting the gospel of the water and the Spirit. Not only from the English-speaking world but also from various other language worlds, people are coming in, and from the Asian world, many are coming in. I cannot express how thankful it is that God has entrusted this work to us.Galatians chapter 1, which we will examine together today, is the first part of the letter the Apostle Paul sent to the churches in the region of Galatia. However, if you read the main text, you can feel exactly how great a spiritual righteous indignation rose up inside the Apostle Paul’s heart as he wrote this letter. I want to unravel step by step why he wrote the letter with such a heart.

The Apostle Paul declared that the gospel he believed did not originate from men. The gospel Paul believed was neither a philosophy nor a doctrine created by men. The gospel Paul believed did not come through man, but only through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Christ from the dead.
Paul stated that he earnestly desired grace and peace from God to be upon all the servants and saints who obtained salvation through the gospel given by God. In the heart of the Apostle Paul, there was an earnest desire to clearly reveal to the saints in Galatia what the gospel given by God was. He intended to clearly and unwaveringly illuminate what kind of gospel it was that God had given.

As the number of visitors is steadily increasing, I expect that even more people will visit before long. Visits are continuing not only from the English-speaking world but also from various language spheres, and many people from the Asian region are also connecting. For all of this, I give even deeper thanks to God. Although there are sometimes discouraging things, I enjoy joy while looking at God causing the fruit of evangelism to be borne and bestowing abundant blessings upon all the ministries that have been handled by faith. This time, Bible study books are scheduled to be published. I am thankful that so many books are being published like this, and I hope to be able to put more books online as soon as possible. Thus, I believe that many souls around the world will come into contact with the gospel of water and the Spirit through our website.

I Give Thanks Before GodThese days, about 20,000 people visit our website each day.

Through whom was Paul’s office of apostle given?
The prologue of Galatians Chapter 1 begins with the Apostle Paul clearly nailing down the source of his office of apostle. This question is not simply about one person’s resume, but it holds great significance because it is a question about the very method by which God establishes a person as God’s worker. Let us examine the source of the apostleship spoken of in the text step by step from both the negative and positive sides.

And I went up by revelation, and communicated to them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to those who were of reputation, lest by any means I might run, or had run, in vain. Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised. And this occurred because of false brethren secretly brought in (who came in by stealth to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage), to whom we did not yield submission even for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. But from those who seemed to be something—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God shows personal favoritism to no man—for those who seemed to be something added nothing to me. But on the contrary, when they saw that the gospel for the uncircumcised had been committed to me, as the gospel for the circumcised was to Peter (for He who worked effectively in Peter for the apostleship to the circumcised also worked effectively in me toward the Gentiles), and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that had been given to me, they gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do” (Galatians 2:1-10).

The Apostle Paul says this in verse 1: “Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.” The Bible does not express Paul’s going up to Jerusalem as ‘going up to the general assembly of the early church held in Jerusalem.’ The Bible does not use such political words. It simply said, “Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.” What this means is that the Apostle Paul, as a missionary to the Gentiles and with the qualification as an apostle of God, took Barnabas and Titus and went up to the Jerusalem assembly.Titus is a Hellenist. Being a Hellenist means being a Greek person. It means a Gentile, associated with the Greek language in which the New Testament was recorded. Titus is such an important figure that the Book of Titus appears in the later part of the Bible. Titus followed the Apostle Paul, was well trained in faith, and later took charge of and served a church. Whenever the Apostle Paul went to a certain church and said, “Go and solve such and such problems,” he would go, solve them, and return. So later, he was established as a church minister and was greatly used.

Did you all have a good meal? You did? That is good. Once a person’s stomach is full and their mind is at peace, the Word of God enters their heart well, and so on. If your mind is noisy and you are hungry, you cannot hear the Word of God. Therefore, have a good meal, put your mind at ease, and let us examine the Word together.

Saints, what is the first word that the Apostle Paul throws at the saints of the Galatian church with such a strong tone in Galatians chapter 3? “O foolish Galatians!” (Galatians 3:1). This single word is not a simple rebuke. Inside the Apostle Paul’s heart, there was full of spiritual sorrow that could not bear to just watch the sight of the Galatian saints being dragged back under the curse of the law.
There is one thing I want to ask you today as well. Where is your soul firmly staying right now? Is it settled on the one way of the gospel of the water and the Spirit? Or, without even knowing it yourself, are you moving step by step toward the way of deeds, the way of prayers of repentance, and the way of the law? The Apostle Paul is asking and asking us this one thing through the entire chapter of Galatians 3.

Everyone, I hope you sleep with a warm fire lit tonight. It will be cold at night, so light the fire sufficiently. Even if you turn on a fan, if the floor is cold, it is easy to get sick.
Following today’s daytime session, I intend to preach the word in the evening session as well. During the day, I preached on the part that Christ came to this earth and saved us, and that God’s promise to make those who believe in it as numerous as the stars in the sky was fulfilled according to the word spoken to Abraham. This evening, I intend to preach the word concerning faith. Let us read verse 23 together once.
“But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed” (Galatians 3:23).

No matter how much we believed in Jesus and believed we were saved from the sins of the world, sin was still in our hearts, and we were still bound under the law, so there was no way to escape from sin even for a single day. Our hearts were always bound to sin, and agonizing in that bondage, we spent truly painful days.
Before knowing the gospel of the water and the Spirit, we looked for this and that reason. Wondering if it was because I didn’t pray much, I tried clinging to prayer; wondering if it was because I didn’t serve the Lord much, I tried serving diligently; wondering if it was because I didn’t know theology well, I tried devoting myself to Bible study; wondering if it was because I didn’t receive grace, I tried all sorts of methods, crying out “Lord” three times to receive the Holy Spirit. Until we believed in the gospel of the water and the Spirit and received the removal of sins, we were under sin and under the law. Being under the law meant being under the wrath of God.

What kind of gospel is it, indeed, that allows a person to receive the removal of sins in their heart, receive the Holy Spirit as a gift, and live a life of faith?
In fact, this question is the very core inquiry that the entire chapter 3 of Galatians is throwing, and it is a question about the very truth that the Apostle Paul sought to restore by crying out “O foolish” to the Galatian church members. There is only one gospel through which a person truly receives the removal of sins in their heart, receives the Holy Spirit as a gift, and lives a life of faith as a new person, and that is precisely the gospel of the water and the Spirit. I will answer this by unraveling it into seven core points.

Here, the heir to the inheritance is exactly us. It is the born-again people. However, it is said that as long as he is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave and is under guardians and stewards. He is saying that we are also like that. Today, we will share the word regarding the part about being the heir to the inheritance.

We know the fact that as people who believe in Jesus, when we preach the gospel to unbelievers, it is only when we accurately preach what kind of gospel the gospel of the water and the Spirit is from the very beginning that people can surely receive the removal of sins by faith. Please explain this part.
This is because what and how we preach at the starting point of gospel propagation is the most decisive factor that determines whether the removal of sins surely comes upon the heart of the listener or not. The desperation with which Apostle Paul in Galatians 4 cried out to the Galatian saints with an aching heart also touches upon this exact point. If the gospel of the water and the Spirit is not accurately preached from the beginning, a person will eventually be dragged back to the position of a slave of the law.

Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off!” (Galatians 5:1-12).

It is the word that the Apostle Paul cried out to the Galatian saints with a heart that felt like bursting.
The Apostle Paul went to the region of Galatia and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the people living there heard that gospel and received the blotting out of sins. However, after the Apostle Paul left that place, certain people came in and began to shake the faith of the Galatian saints. Those people are exactly the Judaizers.
They spoke to the Galatian saints like this: “Believing in Jesus is good. But that alone is not enough. You must also keep the law of Moses, and you must also receive circumcision. Only then do you become true people of God.” When the Galatian saints heard these words, it seems it sounded plausible to them. “I did believe in Jesus, but somehow my heart is anxious. Am I really a true person of God? If so, it would be better to make it certain even by receiving circumcision.” Therefore, the Galatian saints began to receive circumcision one by one.
What kind of heart would the Apostle Paul have had upon hearing this news? His heart felt like it was being torn apart. “That is not the gospel I preached to you. You believed in Jesus and have already been forever released from sin, so why are you trying to go back to the law again?” Therefore, the Apostle Paul began to write a letter. That letter is exactly the Book of Galatians.

Hello, everyone. The word we will look at together today is the word from Galatians chapter 5, verses 1 to 6.
Beloved saints, today we will read the words of Galatians chapter 5, verses 1 through 12 together. Earlier in chapter 4, the Apostle Paul testified that we are not slaves but sons, and not children of a bondwoman but children of a free woman. Entering chapter 5, Paul declares that freedom in one word and begins his exhortation. It is that Christ has given us freedom to make us free, so do not bear the yoke of slavery again.
There is an issue that Paul repeatedly deals with in this text. That is circumcision. The false teachers who entered the Galatian church taught that even if one believes the gospel of the cross, one must receive circumcision to become a complete people of God. However, Paul strictly rebukes that it is an act of changing freedom back into the yoke of slavery.
Through this word today, I hope you clearly hold on with faith in your heart to what kind of freedom the freedom Christ gave us is, and how you can stand firmly upon that freedom.

Since Christ came to this earth to give us salvation, we have a responsibility to please His heart through faith believing in the work of salvation He accomplished. Please explain this part.I will explain how the work of salvation accomplished by Christ and our responsibility responding to that work are connected, under the light of Galatians 5.

Last time, from the words of chapter 5, I told you the part that we must live following the desires of the Spirit, that we must not live following the greed of the flesh but live following the greed of the Spirit. This evening, with chapter 6, I will give you the word that a person who has received the removal of sin must live a life of faith following the desire of the Spirit.
Today, I intend to share the word about the part, “Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches” (Galatians 6:6).
After we receive the removal of sin and believe the gospel of the water and the Spirit, we must live a life of faith by faith. A life of faith lived by faith is looking up to the word of God, relying on it by faith, and following it. Looking up to God and God’s word, if we know what His will speaks toward us and follow it with our hearts, we gain new strength. When we have no strength, relying on Him, holding onto His word, and following it is the life of faith.
