This song is a prayer to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It was originally composed as a prayer to be gifted to Archbishop Jason Gordon when he left Barbados. He was Bishop of Bridgetown until his appointment as Archbishop of Port of Spain in 2017. What should a prayer for a Priest or Bishop sound like? I could only imagine that it would be something like what follows below. For me it is a prayer for a Shepherd blessed to be taking care of some of God's flock. It's also a prayer suited for each member of the flock. We hope that this prayer will help to bring you closer to God.

I'll Follow

"I'll Follow" is an original composition by Color. The song was inspired by the John 10:27-30, otherwise known as The Good Shepherd.

The song encourages us to take a leap of faith, trusting that God will lead us where we need to go. A difficult prayer, especially when things happen in our life that cause us to ask the "why me" "why them" questions. A prayer nevertheless that answers the call for us to "Follow God" , follow the example of Jesus Christ and to use our gifts in service of others, to bring comfort, and to help them when they may be lost.

Contemplative Stations of the Cross

Welcome to another episode of Contemplative Worship. We invite you to free your mind to allow for prayerful imagination as we take a contemplative journey via the stations of the cross. All of the reflections and music in this episode have been prepared, read and sung by members of Color Music Ministry located in Barbados. Remember that you can send us comments at anytime via olorchoir@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you.

Members of Color created this episode virtually as each person recorded in their “home studio” i.e. bedrooms, living rooms, cars, struggling with all sorts of noises as we are all self isolating with families due to the pandemic. In our homes we are surrounded by Caribbean wildlife, some of which unfortunately, can be heard in the background.

Special thank you to our teen contributor Brandon, who recorded At the Cross Her Station Keeping on the piano. Also to Chris for permission to use your beautiful painting as our backdrop for this episode.

Contemplative Worship: Take Up Your Cross

This is our first virtual offering of Contemplative Worship or CW as we affectionately call it. Once per month the Choir of Our Lady of the Rosary would usually host a 2-hour CW session in one of the Roman Catholic Churches in Barbados. The sessions combine music, reflection, silence, prayer and provide a space for quiet contemplation and worship. We had always hoped to provide some of these sessions online at some point . Given the restrictions in place all over the world due to the pandemic, we find ourselves self isolating but still wanting to have a piece of CW and to have a space to just take some time out to commune with our Lord. We hope that this episode will bring a little bit of CW to those of you who are accustomed to attending, and to those of you who are experiencing it for the first time.

Morning Prayer (O Lord My God)

There are so many beautiful prayers that exist in this world. Sometimes we encounter a prayer that just seems to say what we may have never thought to say ourselves, yet somehow, we know immediately that we want to pray this everyday. St Anselm's prayer is one of those prayers, asking "O Lord my God, teach my heart this day where and how to see You, where and how to find You."

The prayer has been adapted and set to music by Audra Stevenson Drakes, a member of Color who felt that it was a perfect fit as morning prayer.

Morning Prayer (O Lord My God)

O Lord my God,

Teach my heart this day where and how to see You,

Where and how to find You.

'Cause You have made me, and remade me,

And You give to me

All the good things I possess.

Live recording of His Strength is Perfect by Color from their "In Christ Alone" concert in 2012. This concert was the start of new challenge for Color, (known then as the Choir of Our Lady of the Rosary) stepping out of the traditional role as the choir for Sunday mass and into new roles as music ministers. Color was supported by Lowrey Worrell on piano, Neil Newton on bass and David Carnegie who directed the music and the event, coached the choir and played drums.

We hope that you will enjoy this song as we celebrate life and lean into God for strength in good times and bad.

His Strength is Perfect was written by Stephen Curtis Chapman. This style of this cover version was inspired by CeCe Winans who released a recording of the song in 1995.
