Evidence for the flood. Fossils in sedimentary layers provide clues regarding the nature and dynamics of rock formation conditions. Fossil footprint trackways provide significant evidence for catastrophic conditions. They paint a picture of all kinds of animals fleeing to higher ground while wading through fast moving water. Polystrate fossil trees also point to a dramatic past. Stripped of their tops and roots, these logs floated in an upright position and were buried in the same orientation through multiple different layers of sediment. These logs often contain fossils of animals and sea creatures mixed together. All of this evidence is most consistent with a global catastropic flood...an event which even explains the Ice-Age!

Evidence for the flood. Sedimentary rock layers lie conformably over each other, without evidence of erosion between them. This is the case even when the layers are unconventional. For example, entire sections of layers are missing in some locations, which represents gaps of tens to hundreds of millions of years, according to the conventional geologic column. Yet there is no evidence of erosion where the missing layers should be. In other instances, older rocks are situated on top of younger rocks, and do so over dozens of square kilometres. Once more, the layers sit perfectly over one another without surface disturbance. What explains this kind of evidence best? Long-age processes or a single global flood event?

Fossil evidence for evolution. Many rock layers contain fossils of both extinct species and species that exist today. This presents a fascinating opportunity to see if the species alive today have evolved compared to their fossilised ancestors. Research examining this found no change between the species, despite the assumed age of the fossils being millions of years in the past. If evolution occurred and continues to occur, why haven't the species alive today changed dramatically?

Fossil evidence for evolution. Certain rock layers contain numerous different fossilised organisms not found in the layers below them. Cambrian rock is a good example of this. Cambrian fossils are all fully-formed species - no intermediates. The layers underneath have no intermediates either, nor evidence of erosion which would suggest missing rock layers. The fully-formed species just suddenly appear in the so-called "Cambrian Explosion". Where are the intermediate fossils? What does this mean for evolution?

Fossils and archaeology. Evolutionary assumptions place fossil formation millions of years in the past. However, fossils themselves present some problems with this assumption. Many palaeontologists have now been able to extract soft tissues from fossils, such as proteins, DNA, collagen, red blood cells and haemoglobin. These molecules are very delicate and degrade in 20,000 years or less in average conditions. This evidence is completely at odds with long age theories. Soft tissue molecules, such as DNA, also provide evidence that directly challenges conventional thought about species evolution.

What is the evidence for evolution? Darwin's belief about human evolution was influenced by Thomas H. Huxley, who proposed that humans descended from apes. This was evident to Darwin because of the anatomical similarities shared between humans and apes. Darwin also was persuaded that humans descended from fish, based on the notion that the embryonic state of each species indicates the structure of their less developed ancient progenitors. At that time, it was assumed that the embryos of many different species were fish-like. Subsequent scientific research has given evidence that these ideas are highly inconclusive at best, and in the case of the embryos, false.

What is the evidence for evolution? Biologists have worked hard through the one and a half centuries since Darwin published his theory of evolution to gather supporting evidence for it. Much of the initial evidence was rooted in the fossil record, which suggested species evolution from lower to more advanced organisms in context of a long age time reference. Evolutionary links between species were assumed based on skeletal and physical similarities, and stemmed back from an unknown universal common ancestor. But the understanding of genetics has challenged these initial views due to the surprising and unlikely gene matches that have been discovered. This leaves the accumulated evidence for Darwin's tree of life model in a conflicted position.
