The Gospel of Luke Biblical Exposition series you are now listening to consists of twenty-four chapters and is divided into six volumes. This sixth volume covers chapters twenty-three through twenty-four. The content is organized by topic and divided into three sections: Biblical Exposition, Question-and-Answer, and Sermon.

Luke seen from the perspective of the gospel of the water and the Spirit (VI) is the final volume of the Luke series.

It deals with how Jesus took upon Himself all the sins of the world through the baptism He received from John the Baptist, died on the Cross by receiving the judgment for those sins in our place, and then completed our salvation by rising again.
The author, Pastor Paul C. Jong, has long preached the gospel of the water and the Spirit that was completed by Jesus’ baptism, the Cross, and His resurrection. Composed of “Biblical Exposition,” “Questions and Answers,” and the author’s sermons, this book leads its readers to believe in this perfect salvation in their hearts, to hold the hope of the resurrection, and, while waiting for the Lord who is coming again, to live as witnesses of salvation who preach the gospel of the water and the Spirit to all nations.

● Scripture quotations used in this book are from the ‘New King James Version (NKJV)’, ‘American Standard Version (ASV)’.

● This audiobook is an original human creation based on the sermons of Rev. Paul C. Jong. To provide clear delivery and a comfortable listening experience, AI technology was employed only for the voice generation.

Now, following the flow of the same text, we will look closely at why the sinless Jesus was judged in place of sinners and at the salvation He accomplished through His death on the Cross and His burial.

Jesus had been scourged with forty stripes minus one, and His whole body was exhausted. Many women followed Jesus, beating their breasts and weeping. At this time Jesus spoke. He said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children” (Luke 23:28).

What is the most fearful and greatest enemy in the life of faith? It is none other than the thoughts of the flesh of you and me. The thoughts of our flesh keep rising up, and they continue until this body is transformed and clothed with a new body. If we follow the thoughts of the flesh and are led by them, we cannot think spiritual thoughts and so cannot live by faith. Then, even while knowing and believing in Jesus, we become those who oppose Him, and our faith dies. We turn our backs on Jesus. We end up like Judas Iscariot, who was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples and yet betrayed Jesus.

There are two kinds of revival. One is a fleshly revival, like an economic revival, and the other is the spiritual revival that takes place in a person’s heart. Today I want to speak to you about this very spiritual revival. In this present age, fleshly revival is taking place on a large scale, but spiritual revival is all but disappearing. We have opened this meeting under this title in order to bring about a true spiritual revival.

The women who had come from Galilee following Jesus saw Joseph of Arimathea lay the Lord’s body in the tomb, and they went back and prepared spices. At dawn on the first day of the week, they went to the tomb again with the spices they had prepared. What they intended to do was to anoint Jesus’ body inside the tomb with spices. Even then, they had not gone there believing that the Lord had risen from the dead. When the stone that had blocked the tomb had been moved and the body was not to be seen even when they went inside, rather than rejoicing over the resurrection, they were first perplexed. Even with an empty tomb before one’s eyes, if one does not know the meaning of that event through the word, one can be perplexed even while seeing what God has accomplished.

Mark, who wrote the Gospel of Mark, is a man of faith and very direct. Matthew, who wrote the Gospel of Matthew, was a tax collector. He was a man who had collected taxes, but after he became a disciple of Jesus he did splendid work. Matthew saw Jesus as the King. So he recorded every event from the viewpoint of Jesus the King. The Apostle John is the one among the disciples who was spiritually closest to the Lord and had the deepest heart. He speaks of Jesus Christ being God on a very high level. From that viewpoint, John carefully observed and recorded the thirty-three years of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry.

How are you? Easter is drawing near in a little while. Some of you will ask why I am preaching an Easter sermon this early. But in anything, it is good to prepare ahead of others. Rather than weeping sorrowfully and fasting because Lent has come around, it is far more important to believe in what the Lord did when He came to this earth and in what He will accomplish in the future. So I have decided to preach the word from this text today.

Until a moment before, the disciples had been sharing the news that the Lord had indeed risen, but when the Lord actually appeared, they were terrified and frightened and thought they were seeing a spirit. There was still a distance between speaking of the news of the resurrection and believing in the actual resurrection. The Lord proclaimed peace to the frightened disciples, showed them His hands and feet and let them touch Him, and ate food before them.
