The Gospel of Luke Biblical Exposition series you are now listening to consists of twenty-four chapters and is divided into six volumes. This fifth volume covers chapters nineteen through twenty-two. The content is organized by topic and divided into three sections: Biblical Exposition, Question-and-Answer, and Sermon.

Luke Seen from the Perspective of the Gospel of the Water and the Spirit (V), centering on Luke chapters 19 through 22, leads readers to the love of Jesus, who seeks out lost sinners and saves them from sin, and to the life of faith that the saved must live.

The author, Pastor Paul C. Jong, is a servant of God at The New Life Mission who has devoted his life to preaching the gospel of the water and the Spirit, which Jesus completed with the baptism He received from John, the Cross, and the resurrection. This book will lead you to the assurance of the remission of sin and to the hope of the resurrection and the second coming, so that in these days, as the world races toward its end, you may live a watchful life as one whose faith is prepared, preaching the gospel that is the will of the Lord.
The purpose of this book is not to pile up knowledge, but to help readers believe this gospel as their own salvation and live serving Jesus as their King. His books have been translated into many languages and are reaching readers all over the world.

● Scripture quotations used in this book are from the ‘New King James Version (NKJV)’, ‘American Standard Version (ASV)’.

● This audiobook is an original human creation based on the sermons of Rev. Paul C. Jong. To provide clear delivery and a comfortable listening experience, AI technology was employed only for the voice generation.

Volume 5 of the Gospel of Luke shows how the person who has believed in that salvation must serve Jesus as his own King, use everything he has received from the Lord for the preaching of the gospel, and live with the hope of the resurrection and the second coming.

The contents can be divided into five parts. First, verses 1–10 are the salvation that came to Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector and a rich man, climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus. Jesus called him by name and stayed at his house, and after receiving Jesus, Zacchaeus confessed that he would share his property with the poor and repay what he had extorted. This was not the price of salvation but the fruit of change that appeared in the person who received Jesus in faith.

When a work is finished, I think of the Lord who said, “It is finished!” and it is truly good when a work that was begun is brought to a good conclusion. Since it is good to share together whatever one has done, I share it with you. Because there are parts in the Book of Romans that speak of the whole Bible, if you read it through at least once, it helps you greatly when you hear other words.

I want the gospel to be preached so that the heart of God and our hearts may be refreshed together. The gospel of the water and the Spirit must be preached faster, and I often feel impatient. Still, the speed at which it is being preached has now become very fast. Book orders come in from many countries of the world—Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Britain, the United States, India—and every day the gospel is being delivered to no small number of people. It is a truly thankful thing. Yet when I think of the world’s population of six billion, an eager desire arises: I wish we could preach to tens of thousands a day and finish preaching to all as soon as possible.

It is a truly thankful thing. Yet when I think of the world’s population of six billion, an eager desire arises: I wish we could preach to tens of thousands a day and finish preaching to all as soon as possible.

I have in me a heart that longs for the gospel of the water and the Spirit to be preached to the whole world as soon as possible.

The vinedressers were not the people who had made the land or established the vineyard; they were people who had received from the owner a place to work in it. Jesus said, “A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time” (Luke 20:9). Yet when the owner sent his servants to receive some of the fruit, the vinedressers beat the servants and drove them out, and finally they even killed the son, the heir, to make the inheritance their own. They did not merely confuse what was entrusted to them with their own; knowing the owner’s rights, they plotted together to seize them.

They complimented Him, saying that He spoke and taught rightly, did not show personal favoritism, and truly taught the way of God. Each of those words did not contradict the ministry of Jesus. But they did not speak in order to believe the truth; they approached in order to obtain a word by which to hand Jesus over to the authority of the governor. They spoke right words while hiding a wicked purpose. Luke records plainly that they approached having “pretended to be righteous” (Luke 20:20).

As flowers bloom even in the fields a storm has passed through, even if this world ends and perishes, I believe that our Lord will begin the Millennial Kingdom anew. So I live in hope. For a while my heart was very heavy. There is the second coming of Jesus and there is the Rapture, so we must be born again and receive the remission of sin—this is the gospel I have preached all along. Yet the whole world is growing darker and darker. We are now facing the night before the storm. We are living in that stillness, that quiet, before the storm comes.

A year has gone by as if we had taken one day’s nap. How quickly it has passed—while we fretted and bustled over our work, this year has already drawn to its close. I believe next year will pass even faster. The year after will be faster still, and the year after that faster yet, and rushing on without pause, I believe we will meet the Lord. Looking back, we have worked much and been busy with much, but the time has passed truly quickly.

Amen. Today’s text speaks of the Lord going to pray. The Lord had a care upon Him. Without a care one does not pray, and without a want one does not pray either. Prayer is precisely asking for help. To plead, “Help me,” is prayer. To rely on the Lord and rely again, to entreat Him for help, pleading and imploring and clinging to Him—that is prayer.
