Jesus doesn’t just invite good people into His kingdom—He invites broken people who are willing to repent and follow Him.

In this message from May 10, we continue through Matthew 21 as Jesus confronts the religious leaders in the temple and tells a parable about two sons—one who says “no” but later obeys, and another who says “yes” but never follows through.

When God says no, don’t shut Him out—let it reveal your heart and draw you closer to Him.

In this message from April 19, we step out of our Matthew series to explore the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4—a deeply human story about disappointment, trust, and how we respond when things don’t go our way.

We all experience moments where life doesn’t turn out how we hoped. Prayers seem unanswered, opportunities don’t come, and outcomes feel unfair. In those moments, something deeper is exposed—not just frustration, but questions about ourselves and about God. Can He be trusted? Has He forgotten me?

Through Cain’s story, we see that when God says “no,” it doesn’t create what’s inside us—it reveals it. Like blood work that exposes what’s already in the system, God uses these moments to surface what’s happening beneath the surface of our hearts.

The danger is not just disappointment—it’s what we do with it.

Cain withdraws. He refuses to bring what’s really going on inside him to God. And what he doesn’t bring to God eventually spills out in destructive ways. This message challenges us to consider: where are we staying on the surface instead of being honest with God? Where are we carrying things alone instead of bringing them into the light?

At the center of this message is a powerful invitation: when God says no, don’t pull back—lean in.

Because our response reveals what we trust.

While Cain closes himself off, Jesus shows us a different way. In the garden, facing suffering and a path He didn’t naturally desire, Jesus remains open to the Father: “Not my will, but Yours be done.” Where we tend to raise the drawbridge and protect ourselves, Jesus keeps His heart open—so that we can be welcomed in.

This message invites you to lower the drawbridge. To bring your disappointment, confusion, doubt, and questions honestly before God. Not to pretend, not to force a response—but to trust that He is still good, still near, and still at work.

Because when God says no, it is not rejection—it may be an invitation to deeper trust, healing, and transformation.

Jesus clears out what doesn’t belong so His house can become a place of prayer, healing, and real fruitfulness.

In this message from April 12, we walk through Matthew 21 and see Jesus cleanse the temple, heal the broken, and confront outward religion that lacks true fruit. This sermon calls us to examine what fills the space that belongs to God and invites us into a life that is truly set apart for Him.

Jesus enters the temple and overturns the tables of the money changers, driving out what never belonged there in the first place. What was meant to be a house of prayer for all nations had become crowded with distraction, exploitation, and barriers that kept people from encountering God.

This message reminds us that Jesus still does the same kind of work today. He confronts what is corrupting His temple—not simply to remove what is wrong, but to restore what He always intended. He makes room for the needy, the outsider, the hungry, and the broken to come near.

As the sermon unfolds, we’re invited to see our own lives as the temple of the Holy Spirit—set apart for God’s purposes. What have we normalized that Jesus would want to confront? What distractions, compromises, or idols have we allowed into the space that belongs to Him?

Like the fig tree full of leaves but lacking fruit, it is possible to look spiritually active on the outside while lacking the inward fruit that comes from a life surrendered to God. And that is the good news of this sermon: Jesus does not just expose fruitlessness—He shows us the way to true fruitfulness. As we abide in Him, surrender to His purposes, and trust Him in prayer, He produces lasting fruit in our lives for the glory of God.

The resurrection of Jesus is not symbolic—it’s real, and it changes everything.

In this message from April 5, we walk through Luke 24 and encounter the risen Jesus—not as a metaphor or idea, but as a real, physical Savior who conquered death.

This sermon presses into a foundational truth of the Christian faith: the resurrection actually happened. Jesus was not a ghost, a vision, or a hallucination. He physically rose from the dead, stood among His disciples, showed them His wounds, and even ate with them to prove it. Real people truly encountered the resurrected Jesus.

But this message goes beyond evidence—it reveals the heart of Jesus.

Faithful, not impressive — living for God’s approval over people’s opinions.

Desperation gets God’s attention—because Jesus is deeply compassionate and powerful to heal.

This week, Tom continues our King & His Kingdom series in Matthew 20:29–34, where Jesus encounters two blind men sitting along the road as He leaves Jericho on His way to Jerusalem. These men—beggars and social outcasts—cry out repeatedly, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” Even when the crowd tries to silence them, their desperation only grows louder. Their story reveals a powerful truth: even imperfect faith, when placed in Jesus, can bring us into contact with His grace.

Tom contrasts the desperate faith of the blind men with the crowd following Jesus. While the blind men cry out for mercy in their affliction, the crowd attempts to quiet them. It’s a reminder that followers of Jesus aren’t perfect—sometimes we get in the way of what God wants to do. Instead of silencing desperation, Tom challenges the church to support it, recognizing that many people among us are carrying deep afflictions and need the freedom to cry out to God.

The sermon presses into an uncomfortable reality: when we face pain or unmet needs, we often try to hide our afflictions or medicate them—through distraction, entertainment, substances, or busyness—instead of bringing them honestly to Jesus. The blind men model a better response. They refuse to stay silent and cry out for mercy until Jesus stops. And when He does, the text says He is moved with compassion, a deep gut-level response that leads Him to act.

Jesus touches their eyes, heals them, and immediately they follow Him. Tom closes with a defining statement about what it means to be a Christian: followers of Jesus are people who have been touched by Jesus. They’re not just people who believe certain ideas about Him—they’re people whose lives have been changed by His mercy and who now follow Him because they’ve experienced His grace.

The invitation of this message is simple and powerful: bring your afflictions to Jesus. Cry out for mercy. He is compassionate, He is King, and one touch from Him can change everything.

In this special gathering, as Restored says goodbye to this space and prays over Colton and Mallerie Moore and the Restored West Valley church plant team, Colton brings a timely message from Luke 16:1–18. Through Jesus’ surprising parable of the dishonest manager, he shows that this is not a lesson in shady business ethics, but a warning against making terrible investments with the resources God has entrusted to us.

Colton unpacks Luke’s unique emphasis on the socioeconomic impact of Jesus’ lordship—how the kingdom of God is especially good news for the poor, the overlooked, the stigmatized, and the outsider. Jesus teaches that worldly people often show more urgency and shrewdness in securing their temporary future than disciples do in investing for eternity. True greatness isn’t found in status or success—it’s found in serving others, just as Jesus served us.

In this message from Matthew 20:20–28, Tom continues our King & His Kingdom series and explores Jesus’ radical definition of greatness. As Jesus and His disciples journey toward Jerusalem, the mother of James and John asks Jesus for positions of honor for her sons in His kingdom—one at His right and one at His left. But Jesus reveals they don’t understand what they are asking. The path to His throne is not one of power or prestige, but suffering and sacrificial love.

Jesus uses this moment to redefine greatness for His followers. In a world that measures greatness through status, influence, achievements, or wealth, Jesus says true greatness is found through service. The greatest in God’s kingdom are not those who elevate themselves above others, but those who willingly serve them.

At the center of this teaching is the gospel itself: “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus didn’t just teach service—He modeled it. Jesus wants to heal your spiritual eyesight—so you can see His love clearly in the place He suffered most.

This week, Tom continues our King & His Kingdom series in Matthew 20:17–19, where Jesus pulls His disciples aside on the road to Jerusalem and tells them plainly what is coming: betrayal, condemnation, mocking, flogging, death—and resurrection on the third day.

Tom opens with a personal story about LASIK surgery, using it as a picture of what God may want to do in us: a kind of “spiritual eye surgery” that helps us see Jesus clearly—especially in the painful places where He was wounded physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

From this short but weighty passage, Tom highlights three big realities:

Drift is quiet — but repentance restores joy and sends us back on mission.

This week, Mike walks us through the life of King David (2 Samuel 11–12; Psalm 51; Revelation 2), exposing the subtle danger of spiritual drift. Like a surfer slowly carried away from the lifeguard tower, drift rarely feels dramatic — it’s gradual, quiet, and often disguised as comfort, busyness, or even religious activity.

Mike shows how David’s greatest failure didn’t begin with adultery or murder — it began with absence. He stayed home when kings went to war. From there, one quiet compromise led to devastating consequences that affected everyone around him. Drift is never private.

But the story doesn’t end there.

The kingdom of heaven belongs to the needy, the unwanted, and the desperate who keep showing up.

This week, Tom continues our King and His Kingdom series in Matthew 20:1–16, where Jesus tells the parable of the workers in the vineyard. Through this story, Tom reveals both a window into the kingdom and a mirror for our hearts. The landowner represents a God who relentlessly goes out Himself, again and again, seeking people in need—not just the skilled or impressive, but the overlooked, unwanted, and desperate.

Tom shows how this parable confronts our instinct to hide need, perform strength, and compare ourselves to others. The workers who waited all day did so because they were desperate—and the landowner pays them a full day’s wage because God knows what we need and He is a generous provider. The cross stands as the ultimate proof that heaven operates on a different scoreboard than earth—one that values hearts over resumes and humility over entitlement.

When fear gives people more weight than God, idolatry quietly takes root.

In this message, Jarek pauses our journey through Matthew to walk us through Exodus 32, the story of the golden calf. Rather than treating idolatry as an ancient or obvious sin, Jarek exposes how fear subtly reshapes our worship today—especially when the voices of people begin to carry more weight than the voice of God. We were made for the kingdom the way fish were made for water; when we exit it through pride or self-reliance, we spiritually suffocate under anxiety, fear, bitterness, or despair. But Jesus wants the needy to come to Him—He delights to bless, touch, heal, and restore His children. Tom calls every listener—parent, youth, child, and spiritually suffocating adult—to come back into God’s presence, receive blessing, and breathe again.

When self-effort sinks, grace takes hold.
As we continue our series The King & His Kingdom through the Gospel of Matthew, we come to Matthew 14:22–33—where the disciples are caught in a storm, rowing through the night, and Peter steps out of the boat, only to lose confidence and begin to sink.

This sermon explores what it means to follow Jesus through exhaustion, fear, doubt, and weakness—and what happens when we realize we can’t make it on our own. The good news? Jesus still reaches out. He still saves. He’s still Lord over the chaos.

Faithfulness doesn’t always look like success—it often looks like rejection.

As we continue The King & His Kingdom series through Matthew, we see Jesus return home—only to be misunderstood, marginalized, and rejected by His own people (Matthew 13:53–58).

This message calls us to stay faithful even when obedience costs us approval, comfort, and reputation. Following the King means living by a different code—and trusting that His honor is enough.
