I can’t believe I’m even writing those words.

What started as three guys with microphones and a shared burden has grown into something far bigger than we could’ve ever imagined — a movement of freedom, healing, and truth for thousands of people who dared to ask, “Is this really what Jesus intended?”

And now… this chapter comes to a close.

Episode 200 is the final episode of the Recovering Fundamentalist Podcast.

This one is raw. It’s honest. It’s filled with stories, gratitude, and reflection on everything God has done over the past 6 years.

It hasn’t always been easy. Relationships were tested. Seasons changed. But through it all — grace carried us.

To everyone who listened, who shared your story, who supported us, who cried in the car, who finally felt seen… thank you.

This is the end of one thing — but the beginning of something new.

A new season is coming.
A new podcast.
A new voice.
But the mission stays the same:

To walk in truth. To live in freedom. To follow Jesus with everything we’ve got.

In recognition of his contributions, Bob Jones University, Northland Baptist Bible College, and Ambassador Baptist College all awarded him an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree in 1997. Dr. Pettit is passionate about Discipleship. Presently, he utilizes his gifts as a compelling communicator and expositor of Scripture with a focus on leadership. He travels as an itinerant evangelist with a gospel bluegrass musical team. Steve and his wife, Terry, have four adult children and five grandchildren.

Merry Christmas. JC, Brian, and Nate bring you an incredible episode in the form of a sermon that has impacted their lives in a powerful way. R. C. Sproul preached a sermon on legalism in 2010 that spells out the different types of legalism faced in churches today. In Romans 14, Paul indicates that serious problems can arise in the church due to the differences between “weaker brothers” and “stronger brothers.” On the one hand, many churches have experienced the “tyranny of the weaker brother,” and fallen into an unbiblical legalism. On the other hand, many “stronger brothers” do not bear with the failings of the weak.
