Jamie McClelland is NYC based comic and great friend of mine from across the pond. He is originally from England and has been in New York City for few years now doing comedy.
We got into sarcasm being a second language in England and that Americans have a very hard time understanding it, the good and bad history of England, The integral role they played in World War 2, His great grandfathers role in World War 1, Winston Churchill being one of the absolute greatest bad asses to have ever lived, the difference between men back then and men now, toxic masculinity and the bullsh*t behind it, being useful as a man, difference between men and women in high stress situations, Jamie's scary moment at a gas station in Compton, my scary moment at a gas station in Oklahoma, England's knife problem, if we took away guns in the states there would be a sword problem, Jamie's week from hell, audience reading emotions while you're on stage, allowing yourself to be free on stage, emotions on stage in general and so much more.
Jamie runs a weekly mic called Chewsday Innit in Manhattan

He dabbles in stand up, he is newer to comedy but has been hitting the ground running. As well as teaching he also coaches basketball and baseball. We spoke about inviting friends to see you do comedy before you’re good, what it must be like being a police officer, the difference between being a cop in NYC vs Jersey, blue collar jobs in New Jersey, working as a school teacher in the technological age, how the kids are in high school in 2025, cool teachers vs boring teachers, the "bad" kids in school, David's love for Gettysburg, celebrating his 21st birthday at Gettysburg, a book his mother wrote, what it’s like being single and all your friends are single at the same time, working on yourself before finding a relationship, having hot female friends, men and women being friends, the correlation between comedy and coaching, coaching woman's basketball vs coaching men’s baseball, recording comedy sets and reviewing them immediately, the strangeness of a teacher who relates too well to teenagers, feeling behind in life, the struggle of marriage and kids in present day life, moving on from relationships with grace and positivity, dating in general and horrible dating habits, diversity in school, democrats vs republicans, politics and division between friends, and much more.

I have been reading a book "A Man and His Symbols" by Carl Jung because i have been interested in the connection between the subconcious and dreams, and how i can connect my dots. My week without social media and how i was losing my mind before that, getting to the edge and being able to balance out, my stand up comedy getting better since not having any distractions, the danger of not allowing yourself to be open to love and things that can hurt you when chasing a dream. Being alone, the future, the idea of having children. Allowing my insane side & my sensitive/soft side to be seen through different mediums, and hoping people can see that we are all screwed up and that's ok.

He has made very big step in his life to get sober, so we jumped right out of the gate with that. What made him join AA, the process and comradery of being part of that community, addiction and the trap within excess, my new experiment of being off social media, the reason we both have an issue with saying goodbye to people and things, Coldplay being the greatest, relationships/heartbreak, loving yourself before loving others, people pleasing and comedy, doing what you want on stage, and the biggest question of all...Are you happy?

So he and i go off from there, talking about different parts of New York City, his style of comedy and how i relate to it because we were raised in different areas but essentially the same way. We got into a pizza debate and where to get a really good slice, NYC pizza vs Chicago pizza, growing up with religion & faith, competitive nature in comedy and how to challenge yourself without comparison, treating comedy like sports. The difference between the work ethic of a New Yorker & an out of towner. Going out to party in uptown Manhattan, growing up in this crazy city, NYC politics, his family visiting their home country Cuba, the next mayor, the death of the English language, and plenty more about comedy & NYC.

First half I got into people exiting your life, the feeling of pain in your heart either pushing you or breaking you, the magic spark in all of us, seeing the darkness in order to see the light, thinking positively and not losing steam and momentum, and every great plot (our lives) needs conflict in order to be dynamic. The suicide numbers this year alone. Ozzy Osbourne's death and legacy, and lastly seeing Brian Holtzman on stage which fueled a giant rant to keep pushing the things that I think are funny by any means necessary and the people who are bothered should take a long look in the mirror (I got heated.) The second half I touched upon a lot of random current events and gave some opinions on these stories. The articles were how Giraffes mate, flesh eating maggots, a woman sending 65,000 texts to a man and got arrested, the man who got sucked into an MRI machine and died, Lena Dunham being fat, and the CEO of astronomer getting caught cheating.

I started off talking about a reel i had seen about going against the grain and not being afraid of being bold, and that made me think about questioning the first authorities you have, like your parents. Somehow that brought me to the idea of soulmates, career callings, love, connection and the meant to be moments of life. The beliefs in life that we are born with that restrict us from childhood. Enjoying the slow and regular moments that end up being the most important ones in your life which is just cherishing the presence of loved ones. The mind f*ck of time, and the strongest feelings that scare us can be our greatest asset in creative endeavors, and just how beautiful life is.

Hope this can help someone. Enjoy!

Dave and I bonded over our love for having a good time and getting smashed, sometimes too much. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met and we become very good friends over the last year. Today we sat down and talked about past relationships, getting wasted, sobriety, drugs, fun, love, dating, women, and for lack of a better term, thoughts of checking out early. This one is very raw and personal.

Besides a "work colleague" i consider Joe an incredibly good friend of mine, and he's one of the funniest guys I know. In this episode we touched on topics like comedy (of course), the different genres of it, types of audience members, energy/presence on stage & off, the difference between actors and comics, masturbation, horror stories on stage, politics, opening up as a man, and more hot takes on nonsense i'm sure.

After focusing on stand up for the last few years, I've been dragging my feet to get the pod back up and running. I decided to do the first episode back alone and talk about ideas and topics that have been floating around my head, less funny stuff and more of a real conversation with myself. I talk about stand up, relationships, living the life you actually want to live, cherishing all moments (even the bitter ones), feeling alive, trusting your gut, love/heartbreak, recent events with important people in my life, comparisons between writing material and arguments with lovers, and just raw truth about myself lately. Hopefully you can find something that you relate to and makes you feel less alone.

I will be having guests back on soon, mostly comics. We'll have some heart to hearts, laughs and real conversations. Enjoy!

(volume may be slightly low, may have to play at high volume)

It's been a weird week with a lot of terrible news on the other side of the world. Harrison sat down with his friend Noah to discuss the war between Israel & Palestine, their opinions and beliefs on the matter, peace in the world, and social media and how people are using it during a graphic, tragic war. As well as Shia LaBeouf, Scientology, cults, what kind of cults they would start, George Carlin being needed now more than ever, hope or lack there of in the world, the taste of their cum, and masturbating of course.
