Author Bradley Charbonneau narrates his best-selling book "Every Single Day." It's all right here in this podcast, shared weekly!

From the foreword by John Muldoon.

Maybe you've let your dreams rust. Maybe it feels like sh*t to even think about them. This book was written for you. I want you to know that it’s possible to change. It is possible to do things you can't imagine right now. I want you to do what it takes to be proud of yourself. I want you to stop waiting for inspiration or motivation because those things only come after you take action on something that matters to you.

Use this book as a guide. Hell, don't wait to get started until after you've read it. Start now. The title is all you really need to know, but there is great value beneath the surface. Those pills on the cover, they are the prescription you are looking for. But the true value isn’t even about what you think it’s about--there’s a secret that reveals itself as you dig deeper. It’s about the courage and pride you earn by being consistent with something that’s hard at first. This is the medicine you take for the side effects.

If there's something you really want to do or become, just start doing it.

You can create amazing art, exercise your body to become stronger and more fit, build a great business or relationship, or hone a skill to the point of mastery. You just have to start doing it. Do it every single day until it becomes a part of you that won't go away. It's really that simple. You just have to decide.

Make today the day you look back on with pride and say, “That was the day that it all began.”

We are all rooting for you.

What could you do?

Where might be your “creative space” where you’ll let your ideas arrive without having to go through security or customs?

Create a daily ritual, a physical symbol, a motion, even a whispered mantra to let you know, “Hey, here we go. It’s about to get real around here.” Then give yourself the time to do the thing.

It could be as simple and quick as:

1. Brushing your teeth with your eyes closed and letting the humming brush shake loose your next fabulous idea. Twice a day. Boom.

2. Taking just two tiny little extra minutes after your shower to sit down, in the bathroom, on the toilet if there’s nowhere else (PRO TIP: close the lid first), and with some deep and slow breathing, shed the dread of your upcoming day and gather the strength to go on the offensive. (Ooh, “shed the dread,” I like that! See, I’m “being creative” here sharing tips on how to let creativity in!)

3. While on a walk, even if it’s a short as around the block or to the mailbox, take out the earbuds, put your phone in your pocket, and just listen. What do you hear? Birds? Cars? Dogs? Filter everything else out and hear what you want to focus on.

There you have it, 3 extremely non-scientific but possibly powerful triggers to get you started to tap into your deeper knowledge, your quick-witted charm, and a bit of the unknown.

Relish it. Do it daily. Follow the trigger.

“An unfortunate thing about this world is that the good habits are much easier to give up than the bad ones.”

W. Somerset Maugham

To create new habits, it’s easiest if we create a ritual or a trigger to know we’re going to get started.

Every time I walk into the woods:

1. My mind becomes more clear

2. My ideas grow bolder

3. My fears spill into the ground

4. My dreams soar among the trees

5. The birds tell me what to do next

That’s just a few steps into the woods.

My dad used to have a piece of chocolate after dinner. He really enjoyed it. In fact, it got to the point where if we didn’t have any chocolate in the house and dinner was over, he would get antsy.

Dinner meant it was almost chocolate time.

Yep, the “bad” ones are harder to kick than new (good!) ones are to create.

Still, find the trigger, create a ritual, go a little nutty with it.

Watch professional athletes and their rituals. Each time that Steph Curry makes a 3-pointer, he taps his chest and points upwards. It’s his ritual or even prayer or thank you for making the shot.

Yet, we can do the same before something happens.

I walk into the forest.

What do you do?

What could you do?

Where might be your “creative space” where you’ll let your ideas arrive without having to go through security or customs?

Let’s make up a simple one just for example’s sake here. Say you want just a bit of clarity in your life. It could be for anything, short-term decisions such as what to make for dinner all the way to some help with your next career choice.

Create a daily ritual, a physical symbol, a motion, even a whispered mantra to let you know, “Hey, here we go. It’s about to get real around here.” Then give yourself the time to do the thing.

• Possible: wait for perfection to arrive magically

• Impossible: change yesterday’s trigger

• Repossible: trigger daily clarity

Write Every Day for 10 Days

Writing prompts, pretty pictures, directly into your email inbox. It’s just 10 Days! Easy peasy, right? Spoiler alert: it might lead to more days than 10. [https://goo.gl/g89xhz]?

Start a Blog Challenge

Ready to start writing Every Single Day but you have no website, no nada? Got past those 10 Days and are ready to go further? [https://goo.gl/9FJr98]

Earbuds

I get a lot of requests for my favorite audiobook earbuds. Light, Bluetooth (no tangled cables), and with two means of holding those things in your ears, these are my go-to earbuds I use Every Single Day. Oh, they also have a microphone and work with your phone calls. [https://goo.gl/6N82DP]?

Out of my Every Single Day writing habit many things have been created: books, courses, podcasts, etc. Much of it has been co-created. Many of those co-creations have been with family. Younger family.

I’m now busy with two books with my two nieces (links to the books here: Drama and Escaping the Light).

I’m re-inspired for Spark and wanted to take this opportunity to let you Every Single Day listeners into my world of Spark and the accompanying course, Spark Campfire.

Enjoy the introductory chapter of Spark: Embers.

You know the old saying, but it digs deep when you learn what you’re truly hiding from.
You can run, but you can’t hide from:

Your dreams,
Your passion,
Yourself.

Just to play fair, here are things you can easily run and hide from:

What others want (and/or expect) from you,
Peer pressure,
Sticking to a diet (or a plan or regimen etc.),
Most everything else.

You do it even when you don’t think it’s helping. You do it when you are pretty certain it’s a complete waste of time. You do it when no one is watching, when no one cares, and you’re not even sure if you still care.
But you do.
So you do it.
I’m coming across more and more ESDers who do what they do Every Single Day because it has become who they are. There are:

Writers who write Every Single Day,
Business owners who meditate Every Single Day,
Athletes who train Every Single Day.

They know they don’t need to do it every day. If they missed a day, they are bothered, but it won’t break them, but they won’t miss two–and they probably even try to make up for the day they missed even though they know it doesn’t really matter.
It’s a choice. You choose to whine or you choose to improve.

I’m honored, truly, but I still sort of can’t believe I’m doing this. Part of me can’t believe there’s a book at all. There wasn’t going to be one, I was pretty sure of that.

And if you’d known Bradley back in 2012, like I did, you wouldn’t believe it either. If you’d asked me back then, I’d say there probably wasn’t going to be a real live book. Certainly not a sixth book. Not one like this.

Ach, all that reading? What, 192 pages? Overrated. Get the dog, head outside, put in your earbuds, and let me take you from Day Zero to Day One. It’s quite a journey, but don’t worry, I know where to go. Ready?

I spent 20+ years on this book. Then the last year writing it. It’s one of those “blood, sweat, and tears” books that pulls together the wisdom of many failures and finally success.

My goal is to save you from some of the many, many failures and get to the successes faster.

The book is available on Amazon, but I’ve decided to release the audiobook version as a podcast because I’m such an avid podcast listener and I want to give back to the community.

Also, I’ve received such fabulous feedback from the book that I just want it to land in the hands–or ears–of more and more people in hopes that my journey might help theirs.

I hope you enjoy “Every Single Day.” I’ll post a new chapter every week.

Here we go. Ready?
