This movie does a great job of cranking the creepy vibes up to 11 and had a great twist in it, along with an incredible performance by our Jane Doe.

Wishmaster Franchise (1997-2002)

What's up Dream Warriors! It's our last episode of March and therefore our last franchise episode for a little bit, to wrap it all up Brooke decided to keep us on our toes with the Wishmaster franchise! We both agree that 2 of these were decent and then the franchise did a nose dive off a high cliff and landed in a fiery mess of poor CGI, terrible scripts and plots that never should have made it to production.

We're both picking a franchise (5 movies or less for this one) to discuss and Marc is kicking it off with Critters! This franchise is 5 movies, spanning from 1986 to 2019, about little alien fluff balls coming to Earth to fuck shit up!

Neither of us has watched the entire franchise prior to this so we went into this one fairly fresh faced. Come find out our thoughts on it, how we ranked the movies and how these little space hedgehogs rank among other horror creatures!

Get Out (2017)

What's up Dream Warriors! We're closing out February with Brooke's pick of Get Out from 2017. This is Jordan Peele's directorial debut and our debut of Peele on the podcast; it's honestly insane that we haven't covered any of his movies before now! We both agree that this is arguably the best directorial debut for any horror director and it instantly put Peele in the upper echelon of wildly talented up and coming directors.

Hannibal Lecter Franchise (1986-2007)

This franchise spans from 1986 to 2007 and consists of 5 movies (Manhunter, The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising) and focuses one of the most iconic characters in cinema history.

Happy Holidays to you from us! In our second last episode of the year we are in the UK again for Marc's pick of Don't Open Till Christmas. This was a first time watch for both of us and although there are some things we did enjoy about this one, it ultimately feel short for us and won't be added to our lists of yearly Christmas horror watches. We did enjoy a lot of the kills and thought the practical effects were done well for the most part, but everything in between was pretty boring.

This movie seriously does not get talked about enough; it's a gem that deserves every bit of praise it receives. There's a sadistic father/daughter duo, great torture scenes and a good sprinkling of comedy to make this movie really stand out.

What's up Dream Warriors! Brooke took a deep dive into Tubi's catalogue and pulled out YellowBrickRoad from 2010! Is this a good movie? No. Is it the worst movie ever made? Also, no. Do we recommend checking it out? BIG maybe. But if you're looking for a horror retelling of The Wizard of Oz, like the name suggests, look elsewhere because this ain't it. It could still definitely be a fun watch for a group of friends or a watch party though.

We're not sure when the next episode will be dropping, but it will be on Marc's pick of Infested from 2023/2024! We'll keep everyone updated on how things are progressing though.

Head of the Family (1996)

In a year that gave horror a massive resurgence with that OTHER movie, this "masterpiece" often gets forgotten about and it's a damn shame!

This was a first time watch for Brooke and a second watch for Marc, come listen to see what our thoughts are on it!

With Brooke having his first child due in May, our scheduling might move down the priority list for a bit so we're currently playing things by ear. We MAY be back in a couple weeks or it may be a bit longer, but we'll definitely keep you updated! However, Brooke has picked Perfect Blue for our next episode, which will be our first ever animated movie on the podcast!

We had a blast talking about this one even though it doesn't necessarily hold up as well as some of the movies it rivaled 25 years ago. We thought, because we had such a long break we'd come back to tackle one of the most divisive movies of this year so far, Beau Is Afraid. In all honesty though, we weren't ready. Not even a little bit. Seriously, someone please explain to us what the actual fuck this movie is?!

Beau Is Afraid is Ari Aster's third full length movie and easily his most ambitious. It has some shining moments and always, Joaquin Phoenix is amazing but the message Ari was trying to convey was lost in a series of chaotic scenes and fuckery. Some people love this movie, some people hate it. We're somewhere in the middle just scratching our heads like a couple of monkeys...

Next week we're back to talk about another new-ish movie with Bones And All. Hopefully that one will be easier on our brains.

This week we're discussing his true events and highest rated movie prior to Parasite, Memories of Murder. This movie is based off South Korea's first confirmed serial killings which spanned from 1986 to 1994 and consisted of the rape and murders of up to 14 women. At the time of the production of this film these murders went unsolved, however the killer did finally confess while he was serving a different life sentence for the murder of his sister in law.

This is one of the most iconic and influential movies of all time and it's much deserving of it; from it's score to it's camera work to the animatronic sharks, this movie is damn masterpiece!

This was supposed to be a Villain Faceoff but we decided to scrap that idea and just keep it as a normal episode, but we're still coming back next week with the previously planned movie and likely one of the few aquatic beings that could take on ol' Brucey, Anaconda from 1997!

Kicking off the month is The Shallows from 2016, starring Blake Lively and Steven Seagull! This movie kicks up the tension and had us on the edge of our seat through a lot of it. What are your thoughts on shark movies? And this movie specifically?

Infinity Pool (2023)

What would you do if you didn't have to suffer consequences of your actions? We find out how some people would abuse this power in Brandon Cronenberg's latest release, Infinity Pool. This movie is death and sex filled psychadelic trip that will leave you questioning more things than answering them after your first watch but it's well worth a second trip to Li Tolqa to help wrap your head around it a bit more.

Although lacking on the body horror a bit, it smacks you in the face with originality, LSD-type trips, weird ass orgies and a plot that will have your head spinning.

Freaky Franchises - Sleepaway Camp (1983-2012)

We're taking a trip to Camp Arawak and then Camp Rolling Hills...and then Camp New Horizons...and then FINALLY Camp Manabe to learn valuable life skills such as: fishing, frolicking in the forest, starting fires and well, staying alive! These movies span multiple decades but they always follow one eccentric and deadly camper turned counsellor, Angela Baker as she hacks and slashes her way through all the camp bullies.

This franchise does technically have 5 movies but we're only covering 4, due to the fact that part 4 is basically just a compilation of the movies that came before it.

We were faced with some horrifying CGI, terrifying creature designs and the scariest thing of all...bad acting. It was a hard fought battle with a lot going against us but we perservered and came out on top!

We had an absolute blast talking about this chaotic piece of meta-horror gold and even though we were divided on one aspect of it, we both agreed it's an amazingly fun time.

We capped off the episode with seeing who would win between The Jackal in Thirteen Ghosts or The Scarecrow Folk from this one. It was a pretty one-sided overall result but the head to head stats were fairly close!

To end the month and our first Villain Faceoff of 2023, we're watching a lesser known Kaiju movie called Gamera: Guardian of the Universe! One of us thoroughly enjoys this one and one of us is very much on the fence, but we can both agree it's a ridiculous and fun movie.

The faceoff didn't quite end how we expected so we have to go to desperate lengths to find out who wins based off of our format, even though we know who actually would if these 2 went at it.

Villain Faceoff 11.a - Shin Godzilla (2016)

What's up Dream Warriors! This week is part 1 of our first Villain Faceoff of 2023 and we are going BIG! Kicking off this gargantuan faceoff is 2016's Shin Godzilla, which is a somewhat satirical reboot of the original. We both really enjoyed the fact that this movie dives into the genetic composition of Godzilla and what it's strengths/weaknesses are.

We all know the typical Godzilla vs King Kong fight, but that's not happening with this faceoff. We gotta keep this fight in Japan and we found a worthy adversary! So next week we'll be watching Gamera: Guardian of the Universe to see who will win in this matchup of epic proportions!

Pulse (2001)

What's up Dream Warriors! It's time for part 2 of our Japanuary and we're coming at you with Brooke's pick of Pulse from 2001 (not the critically shit on remake)! This was a first time watch for both of us and we were very divided on this movie, although Brooke did begin to lay the foundations of Marc coming around on it. There was a good discussion regarding the mental health aspect of this film and a point that Marc didn't really pick up on with a first watch. It has been mutually agreed upon that we'll be giving this a second and possibly even a third watch in order to fully grasp everything that was laid out in front of us.

Next week we'll be discussing a movie that won't require so much thought and picking apart, as we'll be discussing one of the 500 Godzilla movies (which one has yet to be decided). This is will be part 1 of our first Villain Faceoff of the year and we're going BIG with it!

Battle Royale (2000)

What's up Dream Warriors! We're kicking off 2023 and our season 4 with Japanuary, where we'll be discussing J-horror and thrillers all month long! We're starting it off with Marc's pick of Battle Royale. Not really a horror movie but it does have some serious horror elements to it. This movie strongly influenced The Hunger Games and likely a couple of other movies but none of them did it quite like this one.

Next week we'll be tackling Brooke's pick of Pulse, which will be a first watch for both of us and one that looks like it could be the truest horror movie we do this month!

The Shining (1980)

We're getting snowed in at the Overlook Hotel with the Torrance family in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 horror classic, The Shining! In this episode we discuss the trials and tribulations of creating this movie, the differences between book and film and if we could survive 5 months in a desolate, snow covered hotel.

We're no longer taking a break between seasons so we'll be back in the first week of January to discuss Marc's first pick of "Japanuary" with Battle Royale! This is a first time watch for Brooke so it should be a great episode!

30 Days of Night (2007)

Whats up Dream Warriors! We're coming back with our second Snowed In December episode and Brooke's pick of the month with 2007's 30 Days of Nights! This movie is jam packed with vampire on human violence, badass kills, blood, gore and....snow. Lots and lots of snow! It's been a damn minute since either of us watched this movie so it was a nice trip down Memory Lane for both of us.

Come back next week where we're going to give The Shining another shot! We attempted this movie back in our first 10 episodes ever and the audio was unuseable and it's taken us this long to redo it. Needless to say we're cautiously optimistic and excited to give it another go!

Curtains (1983)

What's up Dream Warriors! We're kicking off our Snowed In December with a lesser known Canadian slasher, Curtains! This movie came out some time after Black Christmas did but you can't help but compare the two in a sense because they're both wintery Canadian slashers. Do you think this one lived up to the standards that Black Christmas set? We both agreed this one wasn't exactly great but it did have SOME shining moments and has potential to be a good remake candidate.

If you've never watched this one, prepare yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions, because we sure as hell weren't! In true Guillermo del Toro fashion this is one dark ass movie involving children and it doesn't let up until the final credits play.

It follows a much younger Pearl and gives us an understanding of the elderly woman we see in X.

In this episode we do jump back and forth a bit between both movies because they tie into each other so well, so if you haven't seen X yet be warned there are some slight spoilers for it as well.

This movie was directed by the Godfather of Body Horror himself, David Cronenberg and was one of the movies to help skyrocket him into the master that he is today. This movie was featured on Shudder's 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments and neither of us had seen it, so naturally we had to give it a watch. If you've seen this movie do you agree that THAT scene deserves to be on the list?

Our episode on The Orphanage has been postponed to the end of the month so we went straight to Brooke's pick of the month this week and we were joined by Ben and Nancy from Extreme Horror Replay to discuss the 1982 Spanish cheesefest, Pieces! This was a first watch for Brooke and I but a favourite of Ben's, and Nancy is on the fence with it. We could all agree that this movie is a fun one and great movie to just throw on in the background.

In the episode we talk everything from taglines to shitty English dubbing to Nancy's weird (...and possibly concerning for Ben) knowledge of paralytic drugs. October Franchises - Final Destination (2000-2011)

Whats up Dream Warriors! It's the end of October and the end of our October Franchise episodes. To close out the month we're discussing the Final Destination franchise in it's entirety! This franchise was a blast to go through even though a couple of the installments were better left in pre-production.

We talked everything from how we think our deaths would go if we were in the movies, our favourite opening scenes in the franchise and terrible mid-2000's CGI.

Starting in November we're going back to our regularly scheduled episodes and kicking off the month will be Marc's pick of The Orphanage, which was seen on Shudder's 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments and Letterboxd's Top 250 Horror Movies. This will be a first time watch for both of us so we're very excited to see if it lives up to the hype for us!

What's up Dream Warriors! So September came and went in a flash, and that can only mean one thing. Our Screamin' September has officially come to a close. We had a great time this month, covering one of the most popular slasher franchises in horror history and we're grateful to have been able to do so with not one, but two awesome guests! This week Josh makes his return and joins us to discuss the newest entry in the Scream franchise and one that we all agree is one of our favourites.

We wrap up our biggest Villain Faceoff series to date and see how Ghostface in Scream 5 competes with the previous ones and the results are pretty surprising!

Our next episode will be a bit delayed, but we promise it'll be a banger as our two episodes in October will both be franchise episodes, starting off with Phantasm. This will be a first time franchise watch for both of us as we've both only seen the first one!

This movie was jam packed with kick ass fight scenes, one of the coolest looking Predators we've seen to date and some poorly executed animal CGI. Whether you love this movie or hate it, or you're somewhere in between, you have to admit it was a very fun watch!

What's up Dream Warriors! We're coming at you this week with our tenth villain faceoff and we decided to keep it simple this month. No supernatural killers. No creatures. No exagerrated beings. Just 2 normal dudes...who happen to like killing people. To kick off the faceoff we're talking about 1986's Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer!

This movie is a first watch for Marc and he started off not really thinking it deserved the pedestal it sits upon, but Brooke was able to work some magic and make him come around on it. This episode has everything from creepy incestuous brothers to TVs being smashed on heads to exploding beer cans. We had a great time discussing this movie and we can't wait for next week's episode where we'll be talking about American Psycho!

Marc picked this movie as a first watch for both hosts because he's heard that it's a genuinely scary movie and APOES hasn't done an actually scary movie in a while. We all had a great time talking about the new dinosaurs (including Freddykreugersaurus), Chris Pratt boxing a Giganotosaurus, our love and adoration of Jurassic Park, ranking all of the movies in the franchise and many more topics! Villain Faceoff 9.a - Blade

Whats up Dream Warriors! We're coming at you this week with the first Villain Faceoff we've done in a while and kicking it off is Blade from 1998! We know, we know, Blade isn't a villain but rather an antihero fighting vampires who killed his mother and have wreaked havok on the night streets for a millenia.

We both love this movie for what it is but did a watch with a critical eye change our perspective on things? Were the kick ass fight scenes and killer soundtrack enough to outweigh the poor CGI and mediocre acting/script? You'll have to come listen to find out!

This movie was major callback to Giallo films and you can tell that Wan really wanted to make something that would wow his fans once again.

Brooke picked this movie to see if he could convince Marc to change his original rating of it from last year. Do you think a second watch did the trick or is it still a confusing mess of a movie that he thought it was last year?

What's up Dream Warriors! We wrapped up our month of prehistoric horror last week and this week we're getting back into the non-scheduled episodes. This week we're taking a trip to a little girl's fabricated fantasy world while she tries to escape a war and the grasp of her asshole stepfather in Guillermo del Toro's Oscar award winning, Pan's Labyrith!

Although it's not your typical horror there are some very creepy creature designs and the real life horrors are even worse! This was only a second watch for both of us and we both agree that it definitely deserves more watches.

Villain Faceoff 8.a - See No Evil

What's up Dream Warriors! We're coming at you this week with our first Villain Faceoff in a couple months and it's the battle of the big uglies! For this episode we're discussing the stereotypical 2000's slasher, See No Evil!

This movie was damn near impossible to find and after watching it again in our 30's we understand why Vince McMahon doesn't want us to watch it. Throughout the episode we discuss the crappy CGI graphics, how this movie could be a TCM ripoff and how much we'd want to see Glenn Jacobs (Kane) in more horror movies. Although it's not a great movie, there were some shining moments with it and it's not one that we'd necessarily toss in the fires of the Blackwell Hotel.

We end the discussion with our Jacob Goodnight character traits and contemplate how he'll do when put in a ring with next week's villain, Victor Crowley!

Straight Edge Kegger

What's up Dream Warriors! This week we're going back to our days of punk shows and house parties and bringing you the low budget, Kickstarter funded, Straight Edge Kegger! This movie will make you want to think twice about bringing alcohol and/or drugs to your next party because these straight edgers are not having it!

Brooke randomly found this one on Shudder and decided it would be a good one for us to cover, and he wasn't wrong! Straight Edge Kegger is far from a great movie but it IS a great time and a lot of effort was was put into it. This movie has been recognized by Bloody Disgusting, Rue Morgue Magazine and obviously Shudder so it is getting some traction since it's 2019 release, but do the cast and crew a favour and check this one out for yourselves!

Next week we're heading back to the dice and doing our first villain face off in a while. Round 1 will be See No Evile, starring Glenn Jacobs, AKA WWE's Kane!

A Tale of Two Sisters

Whats up Dream Warriors! In our third week of crazy/scorned lovers we sit down with Jess from Horror Movie Crew to discuss her pick, The Crush. This was a first time watch for APOES and Jess definitely brought crazy to the table! This movie was filled with underage cringe that definitely wouldn't fly in this day and age but it all just helped us have a great discussion on a movie that helped skyrocket Alicia Silverstone to fame! More importantly though, we learned that we've been pronouncing Cary Elwes' name wrong for our entire lives.

We have one episode left to drop this month and it's going to be a doozy so make sure you tune in next week to hear us discuss My Bloody Valentine (1981) and it's 2009 remake!

Natural Born Killers

Whats up Dream Warriors! We asked for crazy lovers and ho-leeee cow did we ever get what we asked for with this one! Week 2 of our February theme of scorned/crazy lovers has us traveling along Route 666 with Mickey and Mallory Knox while they go in and out of jail, shoot up diners, get bitten by rattlesnakes and ultimately show us why they're "Natural Born Killers".

This movie had us confused 80% of the time and on the edge of our seats for the other 20%. One of us liked it, the other is still on the fence. But one thing we can both agree on, is that this movie is batshit crazy and honestly not what either of us expected!

We all came into this episode with our own thoughts on Audition but as the conversation went on a few very interesting theories formed, which is one of the great things about this movie; it doesn't hold your hand with anything and it leaves so much room for individual interpretations.

All joking aside, this movie is a wild ride from start to finish and we had a great time talking about it. So lace up the combat boots, make sure your guitars are out of tune and join us as we talk about this new age classic!

Remember, it's a movement. Not a party.

Devil

Whats up Dream Warriors! Have you ever been stuck riding an elevator with people you didn't like? Has that elevator ever stopped dead with you in it? Did one of the riders end up being possessed by the devil? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then you may understand what the characters went through in this week's episode of Devil. A movie from 2010 that includes a severe case of claustrophobia, death and Satan, himself, in quite an unexpected form.

During this episode we also discuss Brooke's fear of elevators and escalators as well as his disdain towards salesmen. We also have a brief discussion on M. Night Shyamalan and whether or not he deserves the flack he so often receives.

Next time you have to take an elevator...maybe take the stairs instead.
