I know this is not the episode you wanted, but some of you may have sensed this coming. This is our last episode. We both need time away to figure out if the passion is still there. When we wrapped up Mysterious Universe we promised ourselves that whatever came next had to be fun, creatively energising, and something we both felt passionate about. Those qualities showed up in moments, but the subject matter ground us down more than it lifted us up.

To everyone who supported this experiment, thank you. And to those who wrote to tell us what the show meant to you, we're sorry we couldn't keep it going for longer.

We're taking time to recharge and figure out what comes next. The plan is to come back with something better.

The bigger story this week is AI and cheating. A Columbia student built a suite of tools to cheat through his entire degree, used them to land big tech internship interviews, then got put on probation for selling access to other students. It turns out his professors were grading with AI the whole time anyway. Now there's hardware that feeds live answers into your ear during job interviews, and a startup raised millions selling exactly that. We get into what it means that deception has gone from shameful to a product with a pitch deck.

From there, black teen takeovers. Three hundred black teenagers rampaged through Clapham over five days. Fifty shut down Werribee Plaza in Australia. The same pattern in Chicago. Social media coordinates the crowds, officials reach for euphemisms, and one commentator's response cut through all of it: I want my country back.
