• 3 parts Dry Gin
• 1 part white vermouth
• 1/2 dropper dirty mix
• olives for garnish

Pour liquid ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice and hard shake until chilled

Pour into chilled Martini glass. Dress with stuffed olives.

Simple. Elegant. Tasty.

TODAY'S REAL LIFE COCKTAIL

GINGER RABBIT

1/2 ounce star anise and black tea-infused simple syrup*

1 slice fresh ginger1 strip lemon peel

2 ounces Basil Hayden's bourbon

1/2 ounce Creme Yvette

1 dash Angostura bitters

Add the syrup and ginger to a mixing glass.
Twist the lemon peel over the glass to express the oils.
Drop the peel into the glass and muddle with the syrup and ginger.
Add the bourbon, Creme Yvette and bitters with ice and stir until well-chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
Recipe for infusion is given in the podcast.

1 ounce fresh lime juice
3/4 ounce ginger syrup

Lime twist, candied or plain, for garnish.

Place all liquid ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice.
Hard shake
Strain and pour into your favorite chilled cocktail glass

Garnish with gusto!

1/2 ounce pure maple syrup
1/4 ounce filtered water
2 dashes Angostura bitters
i barspoon Amaro Nonino
Large swath of orange peel

Pour all liquid ingredients into a lowball glass with one king sized ice cube in it
Stir well
Express orange peel over the glass and along the rim then discard peel

Skeleton Key Cocktail

1 ½ ounces bourbon
¾ ounce St. Germain elderflower liqueur
½ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 to 5 ounce ginger beer
6 to 8 dashes Angostura bitters

You make this one in the glass – no shaker required.

1. Fill a highball glass with ice. Pour in the bourbon, St Germain, and lemon juice. Top with the ginger beer.
2. Shake in 6 to 8 dashes Angostura bitters. Serve immediately. Slight swish of the ice cubes and it is delicious and refreshing and it doesn’t knock you on your arse – and that’s always a good thing.

Classic Zombie - Warning - It's strong!

1 1/2 ounces Jamaican rum
1 1/2 ounces Puerto Rican gold rum
1 ounce 151-proof demerara rum
3/4 ounce lime juice
1/2 ounce Don’s Mix No. 2 (cinnamon syrup and fresh grapefruit juice)
1/2 ounce falernum
1 teaspoon grenadine
4 dashes Pernod or absinthe
1 dash Angostura bitters
Mint sprig, for garnish

Add the Jamaican rum, Puerto Rican gold rum, demerara rum, Pernod, lime juice, Donn’s Mix, falernum, grenadine, and bitters into a blender.
Add six ounces of crushed ice and blend at high speed for no more than 5 seconds.
Pour the contents into a tall glass or tiki mug and add additional crushed ice to fill, if necessary. Garnish with a mint sprig.

1 ounce gold rum
1 ounce 151-proof rum
I ounce unsweetened pineapple juice
I ounce fresh lemon juice
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce passion fruit syrup
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 dash bitters
Fresh mint sprig for garnish

Place all liquid ingredients except the 151 proof rum
into a shaker filled with cracked ice.
Hard shake.
Strain and pour into a highball glass with ice in it
Float the 151-proof rum on top using the back of a spoon.

It's strong. Consider sharing!

Lychee Martini

For Two People

6 oz vodka (do not use gin for this or you will be sorry)
4 oz lychee juice
splash of vermouth
lychees for garnish

In a shaker with cracked ice, add the liquid ingredients and shake well. Strain (or not) and pour into two chilled Martini glasses. Garnish with two lychees on a cocktail stick. If you want to make this drink spooky for All Hallows Eve, place a blueberry in each lychee to make them look like eyes.

Pour into a jug with cracked ice and stir well.
Strain and pour into a 3 oz cocktail glass.

Put all liquid ingredients into a shaker filled with cracked ice.
Hard shake until well chilled
Strain and pour into lowball with ice
Garnish with a fresh lemon wheel or a candied lemon wheel

.5 oz fresh orange juice
.3 oz peach liqueur
.3 oz fresh lemon juice

Ingredients
1.5 oz Gin
1 oz Cointreau
0.75 oz Fresh lemon juice

Instructions

Add all three ingredients into your cocktail shaker with plenty of ice.

Shake until the drink is well-chilled and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

This drink is served without a garnish but a candied lemon peel is acceptable.

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with cracked ice and shake hard, at least 30 seconds, until drink is well chilled.
Strain and pour into a lowball glass filled with ice.

*Drink less tip: This drink can be topped up with cold club soda for a longer, more refreshing experience.

Juice of 1/2 lime
splash of Grenadine

In a shaker filled with cracked ice, squeeze the half lime and drop it in the shaker.
Add the Grenadine and the rum and shake well.
Pour without straining into an old fashioned glass.

Ani likes to dress this with a good quality maraschino cherry and a slice of very sweet pineapple

TODAY'S REAL LIFE COCKTAIL:
Island Vodka Sling

3 ounces of vodka
1 ounce brandy
1 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 ounce fresh orange juice
3 drops bitters, angostura
Club soda
Orange slice for dressing

Fill a shaker with cracked ice and add all the liquid ingredients except club soda.
Give it a good, hard shake.
Strain and pour 3/4 high into a highball filled with ice.
Quick stir, top up with club soda.
Dress with a fresh or candied orange slice - or whatever you darn well please. America is a free country!

1/2 oz absinthe
dash of bitters
sage

Burn some sage and smother with an inverted lowball glass. While that gets smokey . . .
Shake remaining ingredients over cracked ice, strain and serve in the smokey lowball.

Hint: if you hate sage, skip that part but, should you ever travel to Maldraxxus, take some along to burn. It's a stinky place.

1 1/2 ounces bourbon
2 dashes Pernod
3 dashes Anisette
2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Pour liquids into a shaker with cracked ice and stir - not shake
Strain and pour into your favorite cocktail glass and dress with a slice of pineapple.

It sounds like a weird combo but is typical of vintage Trader Vic's type cocktails and I quite liked it. Try using a candied pineapple for dressing - nice!

This one is for two people or a double whammy for one.

Before you start, wet and dip both martini glasses in crushed candy canes or another type of colorful sugar sprinkle.

5 ounces vanilla vodka
2 ounces white creme de menthe
1/2 ounce peppermint schnapps

Pour liquids into a cocktail shaker with cracked ice and hard shake for approx. 30 seconds.

Pour into prepared martini glasses and dress with a candy cane.

I promise you - it tastes so much better than it sounds.

3/4 ounce Golden Rum
1 1/2 ounces Apple Brandy
1/4 teaspoon Simple Syrup

Pour ingredients into a shaker or big glass and stir, not shake, well.
Strain and pour into a 3 ounce cocktail glass.

Sip slowly and feel the warm glow.

The perfect tipple after a long day exploring subterranean cave systems. Heres’ how you make it.

1 ½ ounces Applejack or you can use Calvados
1 ounce Apricot Brandy
1 ounce gin
1 ounce fresh orange juice
Slice of toffee apple for garnish

Fill a shaker with cracked ice. Pour all the liquids in and shake well.

Strain into an old-fashioned glass.

Dress with the apple or your choice of dressing.

1/2 ounce lemon juice

Put all liquid ingredients into a shaker filled with cracked ice and shake very well
Strain into a cocktail glass filled with cracked ice
Garnish with rosemary sprig

1806 Sazerac.

Absinthe, to rinse
2 ounces cognac
1/2 ounce simple syrup
3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
Lemon peel for garnish

Rinse a chilled Old Fashioned glass with Absinthe, fill with crushed ice and set aside.
Fill a second glass with ice, add the cognac, simple syrup and bitters and stir until well chilled.
Discard the ice and excess Absinthe from the first glass
Strain the contents of the second glass into it.
Express the lemon peel oils over the top of the drink and garnish with the peel.

Bulldog Smash

2 ounces Bourbon
3/4 ounces Cointreau
1/2 ripe, pitted peach
1/2 a lemon
1 tsp sugar cane syrup
6-8 mint leaves

Muddle the peach, lemon, mint and syrup. Add Bourbon and Cointreau. Give it a stir.
Strain and pour over crushed ice.
No dressing required. You can drink this naked.

2 ounces good silver tequila
3/4 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
4 ounces or more Modelo Especial beer or good Mexican beer
Garnish with slice of lime

Prepare a chilled tall glass by rimming with salt or Tajin
In a shaker filled with cracked ice, add the teqila, lime juice and Countreau.
Hard shake
Strain and pour into prepared chilled glass
Top up with the beer
Dress with lime wheel

Classic Benedictine

2 ounces blended scotch
1 ounce Benedictine Liqueur
Q Ginger Ale

Fill a mixing glass or shaker with ice
Add the scotch and Benedictine.
Stir...do NOT shake.
Pour into a highball glass but do not strain.
Top off with Q ginger ale.

I like to pour mine over one large ice sphere. Some say that is sacrilege but I do my own thing...always.

Midnight Mochi

2 parts Roku Gin
1 part Tyku coconut sake
2 parts coconut milk
0.75 part sesame seed simple syrup**
1 part lime juice
Bar spoon of matcha powder
Edible flowers, garnish

**Sesame Seed Simple Syrup: Combine ¼ cup toasted black sesame seeds, 1 cup water, 2 cups sugar ingredients and boil and simmer for 7 minutes. Strain through cheesecloth, coffee filter or lined mesh strainer.
Method: Shake ingredients over ice and double strain into coupe. Garnish with edible flowers.

If you like coconut and sesame, this is well balanced and interesting cocktail. I don't care for either so, in retrospect, this was not a good choice for me. Silly Ani!

3 ounces ginger beer
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice, optional
Lime wedge, for garnish
Here’s how I make it. Highball glass with ice. I put the ginger beer in. I float the dark rum on top of the ginger beer. I squeeze some lime juice in and place a fresh lime wedge in the glass and I don’t mix it…I poke the ice to merge the colors and blend the flavors. It’s refreshing. And I love ginger beer so it’s a win win.

1 teaspoon Powdered Sugar

Hard shake ingredients with cracked ice
Strain into a 3 ounce cocktail glass
Dress with crystalized citrus peel...a nice touch

You will be surprised by this cocktail. Sometimes the oldies really are the best ones.

Juice of Half a Lemon

Put ingredients into a shaker with cracked ice
Hard shake
Strain into a 6 ounce sour glass and top up with fizzy water
Dressing optional but Luxardo cherries work well

Club Soda
Lemon Slice for garnish
Luxardo Cherry for garnish

Fill cocktail shaker with ice
Pour in gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and a dash of bitters
Hard shake
Strain into a highball glass filled partially with ice
Top off with club soda
Dress with lemon slice and cherry.
